Inherent Splendour

This full basement remodel was inspired by the layered charm and moody sophistication of an eclectic British-style neighborhood bar in Chicago. Designed as a one-of-a-kind retreat, the space is rich with depth, character, and luxurious textures woven together to create an intimate yet highly functional environment.

At the heart of the design is a statement bar featuring buffalo leather tile bar-top tiles installed in a striking herringbone pattern. The bar front is clad in Chicago-faced brick, paired with an antique-inspired glass tile backsplash that adds subtle shimmer and texture. Custom pendant lighting, crafted with bronze stamping and rich cognac leather straps, anchors the space, while black countertops and antique brass plumbing fixtures and hardware are layered throughout for warmth and cohesion.

Multiple patterns and a playful yet moody color palette bring visual interest without overwhelming the space. A perfectly scaled wallcovering sets the backdrop for a curated gallery wall, thoughtfully illuminated with unique sconces. The booth seating area serves as a natural midpoint between the bar and lounge, an inviting spot for conversation, games, and casual gatherings.

Beyond the bar, the lounge area offers a comfortable setting for entertaining or enjoying family movie nights. Opposite the lounge, a dedicated music gathering space was created to showcase the family’s guitars, a relaxed, creative corner designed for collaboration and unwinding. In the bathroom, we continued the elevated detailing with a floating vanity featuring a reeded front, paired with glass pendants and a sculptural brass faucet for a refined finishing touch.
